IEEE, the technical club of Jaypee University of Information Technology, Waknaghat, conducted a two days C Programming workshop for the first year students. The workshop was held on 29th October. The entry fee for the workshop was free. C is one of the most used programming languages in the world. In embedded systems domain, it is a standard language. The main objective of this workshop was to give a rough idea about the C programming language to the freshers.150 students had registered for this workshop, and almost 100 of them showed up on the occasion. The C session was divided in two LTs for better understanding of the students and the seniors provided all the necessary details while teaching. The enthusiastic freshers were taught the concepts of if else, switch case, for loop, while loop, do while loop, functions and pointers. Further, the memory management and use of data types was also explained. Also, the deserving candidates were awarded with certificates. IEEE plans on conducting more such workshops on other important topics in the future to provide extra knowledge regarding the various new and interesting topics.
It was held on september 11, 2017. the desk was set up in OC by the members of IEEE to show their projects.
The projects are shown and described to the students so that they are willing to be a part of IEEE organization.
Some of the projects names are-
1)Self driving car AI
and many more. Students asked their doubts about the projects and project makers clarify their doubts and motivate them to join IEEE and make good projects.
The 4th International Conference on Signal Processing, Computing and Control (ISPCC 2017) will be organized by Jaypee University of Information Technology, Waknaghat, India. The aim of the ISPCC is to serve for researchers, developers, educators working in the area of signal processing, computing, control and their applications.
Adobe Photoshop workshop was organised on September 27, 2017 by IEEE to ensure that students could learn and master a conceivable way to edit the pictures using Photoshop. The speaker of the workshop was one of the JUIT’s alumni, Mr. Abhijit Srivastava, presently working as full stack web developer in Mumbai. The activities of workshop included- software distribution, brief study material with visual tutorials and an interactive session. He taught the students how to use the Photoshop and gave a brief idea about all the editing tools. In a very less duration, he instructed them so well that the students were easily able to coordinate with his pace of speed and gained maximum knowledge from him.
An expert talk was organized on 10 October, 2017 by IEEE Student Branch, JUIT. Prof. Peter Macfarlane an Electro cardiologist at University of Glasgow, Scotland delivered a talk on Artificial Intelligence, Wearable Gadgets, Mobile Phone and Heart. The objective of this talk was to help the students gain first-hand information on the above mentioned topics which presented the students with opportunities to plan, organize and engage in active learning experiences. His major interest throughout has been the application of computer techniques to ECG interpretation. The work of his team has been adopted commercially and the University of Glasgow ECG interpretation program developed in his laboratory is currently used worldwide. As a result, he has influenced international guidelines for the ECG definitions of acute myocardial infarction. In addition, he has established an ACG Core Laboratory for handling ECGs recorded in national and international clinical trials and epidemiological studies. He taught students about the role and applications of computer techniques on how to interpret Electrocardiogram. Also he tested ECG of various students by using his self-designed sensing machine. In the end, he inspired students by telling them about his personnel experience and some of his achievements. This talk opened a wide scope of opportunities for the students.
The ICIIP (International Conference on Image Information Processing) (21st – 23rd December) was organized at Jaypee University of Information Technology, Waknaghat, Solan, Himachal pradesh, India since 2011 with sponsorship of IEEE. The area of Imaging Science and Image Computing has grown enormously in the past decade with wide ranging applications encompassing multiple disciplines of Computer Science & Technology, Information Systems, Information Theory & Sciences, Artificial Intelligence, Cognition, Cybernetics, Medical Sciences, Mathematics, Physics and Psychology. It is primarily concerned with the process of Image generation, Visualization, Structuring of large real life image data and Analysis for classification, prediction based on machine learning, behavioral analysis and virtualization. Thus, The ICIIP has become a platform for Computer Science researchers from India and abroad to exchange research results and ideas on the foundations and applications of Image Processing and related areas.
